Much ado about nothing

"Rules for the orkut age" was the program I've watched the other day.Though the discussion was about social networking sites in general, orkut took the spotlight (what with the recent deaths of 2 teenagers in India dubbed as "orkut deaths" and it being named the MTV Youth icon, 2007 which obviously makes it the in-thing, hence the need to "discuss" it). The suggestions that came apalled me. They ranged from automatic log-off after half-an-hour, regulations with new rules to banning them!!!! Honestly, I don't see any reason why people are crying hoarse about these sites.

Of course, we(the net using fraternity and particulary those using these sites) the perils of the web with its anonymity as its prime feature. Caution and being away from strangers is the bottom line.Instead of all this headless brouhaha of banning these sites nd blaming them for deaths, the only solution would be to be cautious while on the internet- do not reveal any personal information(sacrificing privacy means surrenderring the protection that comes with it) and to use the features like blocking starngers from visiting your profile and sending messeges.

Accidents do happen on the roads, do we stop using vehicles? Do we shut down the 'information' highway and go back to the "good oooooooooooooold days"???
