The doom of cassandra.

We elect verbal pugilists as leaders ( the "merchants of Venice" verses the "merchants of deaths" is a classic) ; harp about no food in the backyard, yet manage to declare food surplus nd export it! We all love ethics nd we say that too often dont we? but hey, guess what! our garbage ends up in our neighbor's backyard! We cry hoarse about anything western but in the same breath lap up their technologies nd even ( all the while cryin sacrilage! though) end up in "netrimony"! Movie actors are our demi-gods, cricketers gods themselves (strictly only if they win matches) . Our arithmetic is really poor ( yes, ramanujam might just shiver in his grave)--> observed the math of reservation? increase the %age of quota for reservation nd also increase seats for unreserved category...so, of what %age r they xactly givin the quota?? i have 1 cake nd u have none, so i give u 1 cake nd take another cake for myself...2=1 rite???? !ncredible India for u....wen we talk abt vision 2020 ( was there smtnhng like India shining too? ) do we hear the echo's of "doom of cassandra" in the background? coz, for a boomerang on their India shining, we ( i mean us people, after realizing much is wanted from our elected representatives) coined youngisthaan--> we r too young nd thrs lots to grow up to actually nd proudly say hindusthan. ( Youngisthaan-wat a vile pun indeed).....not a post to offend ny section of ppl...jst my blog nd my views...

We really are a youngistan...with 60-70 year old (oops young) ppl ruling the country.

And we arent just poor at math, but we're poor at decision making too. The quota, should be given in the right spheres(read: political power, administrative sector)...But to hush such demands, you attack the innocent education sector asking it to implement all sorts of ridiculous quotas. Its like, you dont know you that an apple will do more good for you than a banana, but before you realise it, you are blinded by being offered two oranges. whoosh, long comment :)

these ppl tell us it wud be a democracy as long as we let them do wat they say. this reminds me of a shop which sells spears which is chosen to pierce and shields which do not allow anything to pierce.

I never quite understand the point of reservation either. They are so filled with controversies and there's nothing we can do about it !! Though one purpose served by them is clear... helping the political leaders with their positions !!

Talking about spears and shields well ... That's the way it works doesn't it ?

Hi...I think reservation should be there only to people who really need it. There is no point allotting seats based on caste/creed/sex. The whole idea of reservation is to uplift the entire country as a whole so that everyone is on a equal footing. So there is no point if the children of a senior official(who belongs to reserved category) get reservation; they no longer belong to the "reserved" cadre.
It is pathetic that the HRD ministry wants reservation in the faculty posts in IITs. For being a prof here, the minimum requirement is a PhD. But if one is PhD, how does he come under the category which requires upliftment???

Cheers

Parthan

P.S. : I have no reservation whatsoever; this is just my view!
